Serves 4-6
1 package pre-shredded cabbage with carrots, sometimes referred to as „old
fashioned Coleslaw
1 Thai green chili
4 T oil
1 T black mustard seeds
1 T fennel seeds
1 hot dried red chili
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
4 T chopped coriander leaves
1 T lemon juice
1. Cut the green chili into thin, long strips. Remove seeds.
2. Heat oil in a wide skillet over medium high flame. Add mustard seeds, and
when they start to pop, add fennel seeds. Put in the dried red chili and
stir once.
3. Add cabbage, carrots and green chili along with 2 T water. Turn the heat
down to medium and stir the vegetables around for a few minutes. Cover and
steam for 5 minutes.
4. Add the salt, sugar, and green coriander leaves. Stir and cook for
another 5 minutes until water is absorbed and vegetables are done.
Add lemon juice just before serving. Stir to mix.
