I have a bunch of gardening I want to finish before I go to Michigan. I have almost finished removing the plants from around the evergreen. I also found an evergreen sapling that I have planted by the gate to the backyard. I hope it grows. It took the other ones about 5 years to get to a noticeable size. I must remember that.
I’m investing in a future that’s years down the road, and that speaks volumes about my resilience and capacity to nurture. The awareness that it took five years last time, and that I must remember that again now, shows a gentle trust in slow growth—both in my garden and, metaphorically, in myself.
