what people say and what they truly feel

June 24, 2013
"I've spent a lot of time listening to people, and I am endlessly intrigued by relationships, particularly by the gap between what people say and what they truly feel, and the gap between what they do and what they really want." - Amy Bloom

Mother's Day blessings

April 16, 2013

May God bless all the Mothers
That give of themselves
And tend to their household needs
Before the needs of 'self'
For they are there with comfort
For each child's broken heart
Bringing them to God in prayer,
With His love to impart.

Upon celebrating Mothers Day, don't forget Mary. Send her a card (rosary), have a little talk to thank her, and ask to be wrapped in her mantle (a warm, loving embrace)

BLESSINGS FOR MOTHERS

from the Canadian Bishops' Book of Blessings
Holy God, you compare your own love for your people to the love of a mother for her children. Look with kindness on these mothers, give them comfort in moments of sorrow, and joy in their work for their families. Listen to their prayers. And bless + them in all they do for you. Let them share with Jesus your Son and Mary our mother in the everlasting happiness of heaven. Father, we ask this grace through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Sincerely, Emma

To my favorite grandparents!

May 25, 2010
We always used to spend the holidays with Grandma and Grandpa.  They used to
live in a big brick house but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to
Florida.  Now they live in a tin box and have rocks painted green to look
like grass. They ride around on their bicycles and wear name tags because
they don't know who they are anymore.

They go to a building called a wreck center, but they must have got it fixed
because it is all okay now, they do exercises there, but they  don't do them
very well.
There is a swimming pool too, but they all jump up and down in it with hats
on.

At their gate, there is a doll house with a little old man sitting in it. He
watches all day so nobody can escape. Sometimes they sneak out, and go
cruising in their golf carts. Nobody there cooks, they just eat out.  And,
they eat the same thing every night --- early birds.  Some of the people
can't get out past the man in the doll house.  The ones who do get out,
bring food back to the wrecked center for pot luck.

My Grandma says that Grandpa worked all his life to earn his retardment and
says I should work hard so I can be retarded someday too.  When I earn my
retardment, I want to be the man in the doll house.  Then I will let people
out,
so they can visit their grandchildren.

Christmas gift suggestions:

December 27, 2009
“Christmas gift suggestions:
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.”

"Watch your thoughts...they become your words.

Watch your words...they become your actions.
Watch your actions...they become your habits.
Watch your habits...they become your character.
Watch your character...it becomes your legacy."

"Do not let yourself be bothered with the inconsequential.

May 09, 2009

One only has so much time in this world, so devote it to the work and the people most important to you, to those you love and
things that matter.  One can waste half a lifetime with people one doesn't really like or doing
things when one would be better off somewhere else."
