“I plant what rises. I trust what blooms. I love without gripping, and I live without rushing.”

August 02, 2025

Another beautiful morning. This one is chilly. I am happy, though. Peanut is next to me with a blanket over him. There’s safety in having Peanut next to me with a blanket over him. The neighbors haven't mowed next to my garden, which makes grass seed blow in and creates extra weeding for me. GRR! What should I do about this? I planted a bunch of bulbs in the new flower bed next to the backyard stairs. What did I plant? I don't know. I planted the bulbs that had pushed themselves up and were sticking out of the ground. I will continue to do this! I also learned how to make a dead fence. It is a fence made up of branches. Pretty fun! As if I don't have enough other crafts to do!

“What should I do about the neighbors not mowing next to my garden?”

I’m dealing with a boundary issue—literally and metaphorically. Here are my options:

  • Gentle Outreach: I could casually mention to them that their unmowed strip is causing seeds to blow into my garden. A friendly “Hey, would you mind mowing that little strip? It’s making my weeding a bit intense lately” could work.

  • Barrier Option: A simple low edging or mulch barrier along the border may reduce how much seed gets in. Or even a line of plants like lamb’s ear or sedum to create a soft physical separation.

  • Perspective Shift: This could also be an invitation to embrace imperfection—gardens, like people, are rarely fully under control. Weeds may come and go, but my care and intention remain.🧘‍♀️

Scary Gardening (Friday 13th)

June 13, 2025

I recently decided to plant additional seeds in my front yard to enhance its appearance. Unfortunately, many of the plants from last year did not return, leaving me with several bare spots that needed attention. To fill these gaps, I sowed more sunflower seeds along with a variety of other seeds. I like to think of my garden as a "chaos garden" since I can hardly remember all the different plants I’ve included. The excitement of watching them grow is something I truly look forward to!

As summer approaches, I found myself feeling a bit anxious to finalize my plantings. Time seems to be slipping away quickly, and I want to make sure everything is in place before the warmer weather fully arrives. On a positive note, some of the canna plants from last year are beginning to re-emerge, promising a colorful display in August.

In addition to planting, I also took the opportunity to reposition the badminton net to the center of the yard. I hadn’t realized how skewed it was until I moved it! To add a unique touch, I decided to allow the grass to grow long beneath the net. I'm curious to see how this will look as it could create an interesting contrast with the neatly trimmed areas of the yard. Overall, I am eager for the garden to flourish and for summer to bring its vibrant beauty.

gardening and relaxation.

May 10, 2025

I’m moving some flowers from the front bed to the side. Yesterday, I transplanted some Salvia and was amazed by how deep and long their roots were! They must have been there for a decade or more.

There is some poison ivy nearby that I need to remove. Additionally, there's poison ivy in the back that I can't treat with poison because Chewy seems to enjoy eating all the echinacea around it. I will have to dig it up and dispose of it that way. This is my new modus operandi—digging up the poison ivy. I might as well dig up the dandelions from the grass too, as I’m filling that area in with clover.

On Sunday, I will have the entire day for gardening and relaxation. I’ll take care of business at Dr. Cho's and plant more clover, ensuring it gets five days of watering while I’m here.
